Intra-factory short-distance transport of cylindrical roll materials in metal processing, papermaking, and other industries has always been a challenge: the materials are prone to rolling during transport, difficult to fix, and require high precision in track connections. Recently, we officially launched a customized rail-mounted transporter for roll materials for our Brazilian client. Through its innovative "track-guided + support design," it provides a standardized solution for high-frequency, high-precision transport of heavy-duty roll materials.

Structural Design

Traditional material transfer carts often use simple V-shaped frames or flat platforms with blocks when transporting roll materials, which are prone to axial movement due to unstable center of gravity. The core breakthrough of this new material transfer cart lies in its integrated roll material rack platform design:

  1. Curved Contouring Technology: The roll material rack platform is optimized with a curved surface based on common material roll diameters, increasing the contact area, dispersing pressure, and effectively preventing damage to the end faces of paper or film rolls.
  2. Adjustable Limit Mechanism: Equipped with manual or hydraulic lateral clamping devices, it can be quickly adjusted according to the roll width, ensuring that the material maintains "zero displacement" during acceleration and deceleration on the track.

Fixed Track Operation

Unlike trackless transfer carts, this equipment needs to run on pre-laid fixed tracks. The tracks provide a clear travel route for the handling vehicle, allowing it to move back and forth between different work areas according to a set path.

For production workshops, if the material transportation route remains fixed for a long time, such as transporting materials from the raw material storage area to the processing production line, or transporting materials back and forth between two production stations, then the fixed track handling vehicle can well adapt to this repetitive transportation needs.

The fixed-track operation allows the transfer cart to maintain a stable direction of travel, facilitating fixed-point stopping and production line integration. For factories with well-defined logistics routes, this design promotes more standardized intra-plant transportation processes.

Flexible Control for Precise Transportation

To facilitate operator use, this rail transfer cart can be configured with different control methods according to customer needs, such as joystick control, wireless remote control, and PLC automatic control.

  • In manual operation mode, operators can use the control system to start, stop, move forward, move backward, and adjust the speed of the transport vehicle.
  • If customers require further automation, the transfer cart can be connected to the production line control system to achieve fixed-point stopping, automatic start/stop, and automatic material transfer between production lines.
  • For highly repetitive transportation tasks, automated control can further reduce manual operation and improve intra-plant logistics efficiency.
